TO THIS I BELONG

To This I Belong — World Premiere at Docs Ireland, June 20th

We are delighted to share the news that To This I Belong, a documentary film commissioned by our partners Luail, will have its world premiere at Docs Ireland Film Festival on Friday, June 20th.

Directed by filmmaker Nicky Larkin, the film follows a landmark project that brought dance to communities across the island of Ireland. In 2024, Luail commissioned four choreographers — one from each province — to create site-specific works rooted in land, memory, and belonging. The result is a portrait of an island in flux, told through movement, music, and landscape.

Four Choreographers. Four Provinces. One Island.

The film charts four distinct journeys:

  • Tobi Omoteso — Limerick (Munster)

  • Lucia Kickham — Wexford (Leinster)

  • Edwina Guckian — Leitrim (Connacht)

  • Dylan Quinn — Fermanagh (Ulster)

Each dance maker returned to their home region and worked with local communities to create work that speaks to the particular character of place — its landscape, its people, its stories. Together, their journeys form something greater: a meditation on what it means to belong to a land and a culture.
