Shared Island Residency & Creative Exchange: Resonant Bodies / Shared Sounds

Maiden Voyage Dance is delighted to partner with Luail Ireland’s National Dance Company to host Resonant Bodies / Shared Sounds, a unique Shared Island residency bringing together choreographers and composers from across the island of Ireland.

This two-stage residency forms part of Luail’s Moving in Collaboration programme and offers a rare opportunity for artists to connect, exchange ideas and develop new collaborative approaches across disciplines.

About the Residency

Taking place from 20–25 July 2026 at Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast, the residency will bring together 21 professional artists working across choreography and composition.

Participants will engage in an intensive week of creative exchange, guided by leading artists:

  • Jonathan Burrows (choreographer)

  • Liz Roche (choreographer)

  • Brian Irvine (composer)

Together, participants will explore new ways of working across sound and movement, with a focus on collaboration, experimentation and shared learning.

What Happens Next

Following the Belfast residency, one choreographer and one composer may be invited to continue their development with the Luail Ensemble in Dublin in November 2026, offering a further opportunity to deepen the work within a professional production context.

We welcome applications from professional choreographers and composers working across all forms, styles and cultural practices, including:
